We began as SonnyBoy Animal Sanctuary, Inc. in central Wisconsin in 2016. SonnyBoy was founded by three people who want to make a difference in the world of animals, specifically those who may have a harder time finding a soft landing space. SonnyBoy Animal Sanctuary, Inc. became a registered as a charitable organization in the state of Wisconsin and is an IRS designated 501 (c)(3) not for profit organization. IRS#81-3264803

​This is Baby Huey, a severely neglected Cockatoo who came to us with a hole in his chest from his self-mutilation. Baby Huey has traveled to rainbow bridge, his anxiety too much for his heart to handle -- but he will always have a special place in our hearts.

 
​​Our co-founder, Attorney David C. Pappas with his dog, Sonny.  Sonny lost his life too soon and when David was asked what he wanted to name the sanctuary that would be his legacy, he replied, “SonnyBoy” after the second Pomeranian he saved.
